Nature of Dogs Exhibit Opening Day

Come and see HAWS at the Waukesha County Museum for opening day of the Nature of Dogs exhibit. Join us from 12pm-2pm, these two hours will be filled with fun and excitement!  The first 96 guests from noon to 2pm will get in free and receive a special "HAWS - Paws for the Cause" bracelet!

Special guests for the day include Marilynn Mee from WKLH and Lucky the HAWS mascot. Visit with some of HAWS' finest from our Mobile Adoption Unit. Also, bring your dog and receive a free treat bag for your pet!

The Nature of Dogs

HAWS and the Waukesha County Museum are partnering to bring you this exhibit of original photographs by Mary Ludington.  The exhibit runs April 10 - June 12 at the Museum in downtown Waukesha.
 
Throughout the show, HAWS and WCHSM will present speakers, programs and special events for all ages, including a Canine Cuisine Class, Working Dogs Day, a Pet Photography Day and more.  Stay tuned also for special cock-"tail" hours for kids and adults!
 
Join us for 9 weeks of honoring man's best friend and the roles pets play in our lives.

The Winners have been announced for our contest, "FUR Philosophies: the World Through our Pets' Eyes"!!

"Legally Blonde" at the Marcus Center - HAWS Benefit Performance

Presenting "Bruiser's Buddies" - a very special fundraiser during the run of the Broadway musical, Legally Blonde, at the Marcus Center!  A portion of each ticket sold for Thursday, April 15, 2010  at the Marcus Center, 929 North Water Street, Milwaukee, will go directly to HAWS.

The HAWS Mobile Adoption Center will also be on hand at the Marcus that evening, showcasing some of the wonderful “cast” of pets available for adoption from HAWS.

Rescue Night at the Nature of Dogs Exhibit

Explore the Nature of Dogs exhibit from 5:00-8:00pm and see the personalities of various dog breeds. Special guest will be photographer, Mary Ludington, who uses her medium to capture the true nature of dogs, their beauty, character and spirit.

There will also be a breed meet' n' greet from the paticipating rescue groups. Visit the HAWS Mobile Adoption Unit, and you may find you new best friend!

Learn how to become a Rescue Sponsor and join in the meet'n'greet.

HAWS Annual Bunny Day

From Noon to 4:00 pm, presented by the Wisconsin House Rabbit Society and HAWS.  
If you are considering adding a rabbit to your family or already have one, this is the event for you!  Spend an exciting day learning about your pet rabbit.  Bring all your questions with you, but please leave your bunny friend at home where he will be more comfortable.  Our guest veterinarian, Dr. B. Keith Collins of Eye Care for Animals in Pewaukee, and George Flentke of the House Rabbit Society will discuss health and behavior issues.  We will also have a presentation led by Charlotte Ann Chenery on "Rabbit Language - What is my Bunny Telling Me?"

Admission:  $5.00, proceeds benefit rabbit rescue/care.  No charge for children under 12 years, but they must be accompanied by a parent.

This event is for bunny caregivers only. Please leave bunnies at home.

All prospective volunteers must attend an orientation session prior to helping at HAWS.  At the orientation you will learn how our dedicated volunteers help us, fill out the volunteer application, tour our facility and learn more about the services we provide.
