HAWS Annual Meeting

Come to the HAWS shelter for our annual meeting.  Items on the agenda include the year in review and election of new Board members.  See our newly expanded shelter and learn where we're heading in the future.
 
All are welcome.  Voting is restricted to those holding a HAWS membership.

You, too, can make a difference in the lives of homeless animals by volunteering at HAWS.  There are many rewarding opportunities available for dependable people with a little free time to give.  

All prospective volunteers must attend an orientation session prior to helping at HAWS.  At the orientation you will learn how our dedicated volunteers help us, fill out the volunteer application, tour our facility and learn more about the services we provide.

Dog Training Class - Basic Manners

Time: 5:30 PM
Classes run for six weeks for one hour each week and are offered for dogs 16 weeks or older.

This dog training class utilizes positive reinforcement methods and teaches foundation obedience.  Dogs will learn to pay attention when asked, sit, down, stay, heel, wait at the door, come, proper leash walking, drop it and leave it.  

The cost is $55 for dogs adopted from HAWS, and $80 for all other dogs. An Easy Walk harness is required for this course.

Pedicures for Rabbits & Guinea Pigs

HAWS volunteers will be available at Pet Supplies Plus, 18610 W. Bluemound Road, Brookfield, for small animal nail trims until 7:00 p.m.
 
Please bring your pet in a carrier.  No fee - cash donations to HAWS' small animal fund are greatly appreciated!

Life Skills for Puppies Class is a 6-week puppy class which aims to help you socialize your puppy by providing play-time with the other dogs in class in the "Playground of Higher Learning." We also start on basic manners by teaching puppy appropriate obedience so that they grow up to be well behaved members of your home. You will learn to train your puppy to pay attention to you, sit, down, come when called, and drop it. You will also learn how to handle common puppy issues such as housetraining, nipping, and chewing. These classes are for puppies between the ages of 8 and 16 weeks.

The registration fee for this class is $80.00.  If your puppy was adopted from HAWS it is $55.00. An Easy Walk harness is required for this course.

HAWS' Mobile Adoption Center and the Friends of HAWS will be staffing a booth, with adoptable pets for viewing and HAWS gear for purchase. 

This event has been organized by WHQG and WKLH for pet fanatics, but they ask that you please leave your personal pets at home.  Visit with other rescue groups, shop at the vendors, enjoy lunch at the grounds!

10am - 2pm
Waukesha County Expo/Fairgrounds (across the street from HAWS!)



HAWS is participating in this event, but it is not a benefit for HAWS.
 


Solving Common Canine Behavior Problems (Sept)
