ATTENDED AND DONATED TO OUR
ANNUAL PET WALKATHON - MAY 1st, 2010

On the first Saturday of May each year, hundreds of pet lovers high-tail it to this day-long festival of pets and their people, in support of the Humane Animal Welfare Society!  Walk the 1-, 2- and 3-mile trails through beautiful Minooka Park at 1927 E. Sunset Drive in Waukesha.  (Show your pledge form at the gate for FREE parking!)

Your participation and pledges provide proper care, food, bedding, toys and lots of attention for the animals in need at HAWS.  Funds are also used to support HAWS' humane education programs, which promote responsible pet ownership and prevent animal abuse.

And there's more to do than just walk!  Visit vendor booths and do some shopping, participate in contests and games, have a tasty lunch, meet adoptable pets from HAWS, enjoy meeting up with old friends - and making new ones.  Best of all:  100% of the money raised for this event goes straight to HAWS! 

Become an event sponsor or prize donor.  Your business or organization can sponsor the Walk, or donate a prize for one of our many contests!

Raise Money, On Foot or Online!
Not only can you go door-to-door for pledges, but now you can Get started fundraising for HAWS at Firstgiving.com:  register online and set up your fundraising page that can be personalized with photos and text.  Send the page link to people in your address book so they can pledge online.  Its easy for you to set up, and easy - and secure - for people to make donations to the HAWS cause in your name!

You can earn prizes by collecting pledges for your walk on an offical Pledge Form, too!  Anyone turning in any amount will receive a walkathon button.  Special neckscarves are given to HAWS Alumni, both dogs and cats.

8:45 a.m.                BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
9 a.m.                     Kick-off the Walk 
9:30 - 10 a.m.      Second Blessing of the Animals, Pet Contests begin:  Longest Tail, Most Spots, Biggest Smile
10 - 3:00 p.m.       Lure Coursing!  $5/run - conditions permitting.  Prize for fastests participants!
10 - 10:30 a.m.           Pawsitive Vybe dog-frisbee demo
10:30 - 11 a.m.           Featured Breed:  German Shepherd by GSDCW
11 a.m. - ??         Marilynn Mee of 96.5 WKLH joins in the fun!!!
11 - 11:30 a.m.           MASCOT MANIA!  Scheduled to appear:  the Milwaukee Brewers famous Racing Sausages, Roscoe, Brad Beach, Friendly!
11:30 - Noon              Parade of HAWS Adoptable Pets
Noon - 12:30 p.m.       Let's eat - break for lunch, dog's hotdog bobbing contest
12:30 - 1 p.m.         HAWS Alumni Parade 
1 - 1:30 p.m.           Special recognition ceremony:  Survivor and Senior Dogs
1:30 - 2 p.m.           Contests:  Owner/Pet Lookalike, Shortest Legs, Tallest Pet (4 on the floor)

Walkathon Highlights:

• Microchip your pet ($20) or get its nails clipped ($5)
