Tours at HAWS
We do not run tours during the summer months because of our
Kids 'N Critters Day Camp, which runs from the middle of June
through August. Call to find out how you can schedule a visit
from HAWS to your facility!
We run tours on weekdays, starting at noon with the last tour
beginning at 4:30pm. Tours last about an hour, and include a
discussion about what HAWS does for animals and the community,
researching a pet before you bring it home and what it means to
be a responsible pet owner. After the tour, 15 minutes is reserved
for meeting and learning about some of the adoptable pets at HAWS.
We do not charge for our tours, but strongly encourage donations of either cash or items from our Wish List.
After-School Programs
HAWS is involved in a number of after-school programs in Waukesha County schools. If you prefer, a HAWS staff member can visit or become a regular facilitator in your after school program.

Kids Programs
- K'HAWS is an educational group for children between the ages of 8 and 12. The group meets on Friday nights during the school year. Membership is only $30 per child, and covers all costs of this program. For more information call 262-542-8851 x112 or email jessica@hawspets.org.
- Critter Club is a club that offers unique opportunities for kids in the 6th through the 8th grades to volunteer at HAWS on Saturday mornings, from 9am to 11am without a parent, and attend educational programs on Thursdays at HAWS between 6pm and 7:30pm. A Critter Club session will run for a school semester and cost $150.00 per session to cover our staffing costs and other expenses. Click here for more information.
- Birthday Parties are offered for kids ages 6 and up. Kids can celebrate their most important day of the year at HAWS with their friends and animals! Click here to find out how to schedule a party.
- Kids ‘N Critters Day Camp provides activities, games and arts & crafts. The Kids 'N Critters day camp focuses on animals and their care. Kids also have the chance to use what they've learned in working with our animals at the shelter! We have 2- and 5-day sessions, which run between the middle of June through the middle of August for age groups ranging from 7 to 14. Information on summer camp is posted on our website in early February each year, with registrations beginning at the time of posting.
- Kid’s ‘N Critters Winter Camp, which is similar to the summer camp, runs during the winter break. One- to three-day sessions are held for kids 7-9 years of age and 10-13 years of age. Information on our Winter Camp is posted on our website at the end of September each year, with registration starting at the time of posting.

Because HAWS closes most evenings at 5:00 p.m., and we use our meeting rooms for training classes, seminars and other activities, we cannot schedule tours to start after 4:30 p.m. We also do not conduct tours on weekends as it is difficult to run a tour when we are at our busiest!
We do not charge for our tours, but strongly encourage donations - either cash or items from our Wish List.
Tours must be pre-scheduled. The first semester of the school year is generally wide open. Tours during the second semester are often booked a month or two ahead of time, so please call early if you have a specific date and time in mind.
