Envisioning their land to be “dedicated to the education of future generations in humane values and sentiments,” Mike and Jane Schallock entrusted the Humane Animal Welfare Society with their breathtaking 77-acre farm. Among the founding members of HAWS, the Schallock’s recognized the key to growing a humane community lies in youth education.

Growing Our Humane Community

The HAWS Schallock Center for Animals is a truly unique destination for people and pets across Wisconsin to learn and grow alongside nature and animals. HAWS offers pet training, youth education, respite for shelter pets, a private dog park, family events and so much more!

Dog Park

Our private 5-acre dog park provides a safe, stress-free space for dogs to run and play without the worry of unfamiliar dogs or crowded public parks. Reserve a private time slot for solo exercise, training, or a fun playdate with friends and family.

Dog Dock

Give your dog a fun, safe place to swim with private access to the SCA Dog Dock. Reserve your own timeslot so your pup can splash, exercise, and build confidence without the stress of crowded spaces or unfamiliar dogs.

Family Programs

Family Programs at the Schallock Center for Animals offer interactive, educational experiences that bring people of all ages closer to animals while promoting compassion and responsible care.

School Field Trips

Our school field trips at the Schallock Center for Animals provide teachers and students opportunities to learn about caring for animals and help around the property, inspiring compassion and encouraging lasting connections.

Resident Animals

Meet the animal ambassadors of SCA! Our resident herd of horses and goats help make the property unique, and you can learn more about the animals who call SCA home year-round.

The HAWS Schallock Center for Animals has an enriching, peaceful environment to provide, exercise and respite to pets in need. The expansions of these opportunities to the Schallock Center has created strong bonds between pets and their people for generations to come.

Each year HAWS engages more than 12,000 future leaders through humane, character- driven programming. Expanding on existing efforts to offer year-round opportunities to schools, Schallock Center encourages discovery in nature and fosters compassion for animals. HAWS summer camps expanded operations to the Schallock Center in 2021, increasing access to youth and families.
