End of Life Services

HAWS provides euthanasia services upon request. The shelter also has an on-site crematorium facility for owners of deceased pets needing that service.

Contact the shelter at 262-542-8851 for inquiries on these services.

Lost & Found

HAWS maintains a comprehensive file of lost and found pets. If you have lost your pet, please contact us at 262-542-8851 for assistance.

HAWS has contracts with most Waukesha County municipalities as their official stray impounding facility. There may be fees associated with reclaiming lost and found pets, as dictated by the municipality and HAWS as necessary.

The State of Wisconsin requires dogs over 6 months of age have rabies vaccinations and be licensed annually. Contact your vet for vaccination information, and your local city hall for licensing. HAWS recommends that your pets wear personalized tags containing contact information to aid in reuniting them with you. Additionally we strongly recommend mico-chipping your pets. Contact your vet or the shelter for more information about mico-chipping.

Surrendering Your Pet

HAWS places unwanted pets through adoption into responsible and compatible homes. Contact an Adoption Counselor at the shelter for details on surrendering your pet -- 262-542-8851.

Dog Training/Behavior Issues

HAWS on-staff dog trainer is available for one-on-one consultation, for minor behavior issues you may be experiencing with your best friend. These sessions are for short term assistance and are not intended for general obedience training or private classes. Contact the shelter for information and trainer availability.
